District 15 Debate Tournament Continues

On January 14, 100 students from nine middle schools participated in the District 15 Middle School Debate Tournament. This event was hosted in partnership with the New York City Urban Debate League.

The day’s true focus was on teamwork and growth, even amidst the intense competition. Students and coaches dedicated countless hours to developing strong resolutions and refining their arguments. The tournament highlighted the impressive research, analytical thinking, and communication skills students had honed in preparation for the event.

To celebrate our student’s remarkable effort and commitment, awards were given to the top 20 speakers and the top 20 partnerships. To top it all off, inspiring closing remarks were given by City Council Member Shahana Hanif, who represents several District 15 neighborhoods.

Congratulations to the debate teams from MS 136/Charles Dewey, MS 51, MS 88, the Boerum Hill School For International Studies, MS 442, MS 447/The Exploratory School, MS 821/Sunset Park Prep, MS 839, and Harbor Middle School! Thank you for a successful and memorable debate tournament!
