My Brother's Keeper

My Brother’s Keeper Grant

District 15 is committed to providing our students with diverse and enriching opportunities that prepare them for college and careers. New York State’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative is designed to encourage school districts, colleges and universities, and community groups to join forces to improve life outcomes for boys and young men of color. We believe in the power of diversity and cultural responsiveness in education, and our District Liaison is dedicated to creating these opportunities by hiring a wide range of diverse vendors. This initiative aims to expose our students to various perspectives and career paths, enhancing their learning experiences and broadening their horizons.

District 15 proudly participates in New York State’s My Brother’s Keeper monthly citywide meetings and collaborates with various liaison’s across the district.  This initiative encourages school districts, colleges and universities, and community groups to collaborate in improving life outcomes for boys and young men of color. Through this initiative, we aim to create a supportive and empowering environment for all our students, helping them realize their full potential.

To further our mission, grant opportunities are available to develop innovative programs and strategies that support boys and young men of color, as well as all students. These grants focus on creating educational models that are inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the diverse needs of our student population.

MBK Point, Omar Griles is dedicated to:

  • Providing high-quality education that is culturally and linguistically responsive.
  • Hiring diverse vendors to offer unique and enriching opportunities for our students.
